Redcar and Cleveland BC Children’s Services are offering a fast paced, progressive working environment and a great career for ambitious Independent Reviewing Officers.

Due to expanding the team, we are offering a fantastic opportunity for three Independent Reviewing Officers to join our team. If you are enthusiastic and passionate about making a real difference in children’s lives, then we would like to hear from you.

As an Independent Reviewing Officer, you will be responsible for providing an excellent service within our Children and Families Directorate, for children in our care and children at risk of significant harm, by chairing child protection conferences and children in our care reviews. On occasion, challenging the Local Authority when necessary and working with partner agencies, to bring about good outcomes for our children.

As part of an established skilled team, you will be well supported, with regular supervision by a knowledgeable Manager. You will have opportunities to develop to the best of your professional potential, including ongoing training to support practice.

We have adopted our chosen practice model, ‘Signs of Safety’ across the spectrum of services, from Early Help through to Leaving Care. We have embedded the principles of the approach in all aspects of our work, including our decision-making at the front door, in our assessments, planning and reviews. You will be supported to apply the model effectively and to a high standard to support our children and families and help them to prosper.

You will have access to the latest IT solutions to support you to do your job well, including being provided with a tablet and Smart Phone to enable you to work flexibly and capture direct work with children & families.
