Required from January 2021.

The Governors of St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School are looking for an exceptional, experienced Catholic leader who has the drive and vision to ensure that our outstanding school continues to develop and improve during the next phase of its journey.

Applications are invited from practising, committed Catholics for the post of Headteacher, to lead our ‘World Class’ school through the next exciting phase in its development. St Cuthbert’s is a popular, over subscribed, successful and distinctive boy’s school, rated Outstanding by both the Diocese and Ofsted.

The school is consistently ranked as one of the highest performing schools, both regionally and nationally, and it enjoys an excellent reputation. In 2018 St Cuthbert’s was named as The Sunday Times Regional State Secondary School of the Year and in December 2019 we were awarded the coveted World Class Schools Quality Mark.

Our mission is to build on our history and heritage, since 1881, of academic excellence and pastoral care.

At St Cuthbert’s, we teach our young men in such a way that they can become happy, considerate, responsible adults. We develop future citizens and this is as important to us as our academic success.

We became an Academy in 2012. As a National Teaching School and a National Support School, we play a lead role in school-to-school support, initial teacher training and leadership development across the region.

We are in the process of joining the Bishop Bewick Catholic Education Trust, which will bring together, over the next two to three years, 5 secondary schools and 34 primary schools in the northern region of the Diocese.

This is an exciting time to lead our school. The successful candidate will have the ambition, determination and expertise to ensure that St Cuthbert’s continues to thrive.

Above all, Governors wish to appoint as Headteacher, a leader with:
• A clear commitment to nurturing and promoting the school’s distinctive Catholic ethos.
• Outstanding strategic ability to anticipate & lead change to ensure SCCHS continues to build on its success.
• A passion for providing the best possible holistic education for all students.
• A commitment to maximising achievement through excellence in teaching and learning.
• An excellent, proven track record as a classroom teacher and school leader.

Application packs are available to download from our school website, the TES website, or by e-mailing the Headteacher’s PA, at lynn.anderson@scchs.org.uk

If you require further information about our school in advance of applying, please contact Lynn Anderson by email or on 0191 274 4510 ext. 102. Please note that restrictions on visiting our school may still be in force due to COVID 19.

Closing date: 11am Friday 3 July 2020
Shortlisting: Thursday 9 July 2020
Interviews: Wednesday 15 & Thursday 16 July 2020.

The board and the Diocese are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
