Further Information
This is a key role helping to deliver high quality legal and procurement support, to enable the Councils commercial and regeneration projects to progress successfully and to help in ensuring value and compliance in the Councils procurement decision making.

We are looking for someone to help lead and manage the Commercial Team (one of 3 Teams in Legal Services). This will involve managing a small team of Lawyers who deal with land and property, planning, highways, contracts, agreements and commercial work. Corporate procurement also sits in the Team. In total there 9 members of staff and 6 direct reports.

The role offers a really good opportunity for a Lawyer who already has experience in some areas of the teams work to further develop. We are not expecting fluency in all areas but the successful person will need to be able to develop an understanding of all areas of the teams work and be able to oversee and help members of the team as necessary.

The successful candidate will be expected (if they do not already have this) to develop a good understanding of strategic procurement issues.

There will be opportunities to work with colleagues across the Council on major projects to ensure that appropriate legal and procurement input is provided.

For the right person, it will be an interesting and rewarding role, working with a great group of staff.

The additional benefits of working for the Council include:

• 31 days annual leave, plus public holidays
• Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
• Enhanced Maternity/Paternity and Adoption Leave Payments
• Additional Leave Purchase Scheme
• Flexi Time Scheme
• Cycle to Work Scheme in partnership with Halfords
• Access to Occupational Health, Physiotherapy and Counselling Services
• Regular health and wellbeing initiatives
• Reduced membership to the Dolphin Centre's 'Fit 4 Life' package
• Workplace development opportunities.
