As a member of the Health and Safety Team, you will be a strong team player, self-motivated and focused on continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager your main role will be to provide advice and guidance to Adults and Children’s Social Services and Leisure and Culture services. Key tasks will include the assessment and monitoring of contractors, advising on all statutory obligations, and undertaking health and safety audits and inspections. You will also be required to review policies and procedures, assist with risk assessments, investigate incidents and deliver training.

You must be able to work collaboratively with managers and employees to ensure health and safety management is embedded into service delivery. You will have good communication and interpersonal skills.

You must possess a recognised occupational health and safety qualification (Degree, NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ level 5) and you will either have obtained or be actively working towards Chartered Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. You should also have experience of working as a Health and Safety Advisor in a Local Authority or Public Sector setting.
