Further Information
Darlington is a historic market town, located in the southernmost part of County Durham, on the border with North Yorkshire. Darlington is part of the Tees Valley sub-region with excellent transport connections to the wider area. Despite being one of the UK's smallest Unitary Authorities it has one of the fastest growing economies in the North of England in recent years.

We have an exciting opportunity within our Planning Policy team for an enthusiastic and skilled Graduate Planner.

This post would give the successful applicant the opportunity to further their career in planning through assisting the team in developing the Local Plan for adoption. There will also be opportunities to gain experience in the full range of planning functions of a Unitary Authority including planning applications, neighbourhood plans, plan monitoring and public consultation.

You must be about to complete or have completed a relevant degree course, be computer literate and have means to travel to carry out the requirements of the post.

You should be able to demonstrate that you can use your own initiative, manage workload and have good negotiation skills.

You must also be able to work in a team, have good customer service and organisation skills and have knowledge of the planning system.

Interviews will take place electronically for safety in line with current working practices. We will confirm arrangements and interview details with shortlisted candidates.
