An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Business Support and Improvement Department, to lead our Executive Support Team and contribute to continuous improvement in Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.

Reporting to the Executive Services Manager, the role will support delivery of our strategic goals by providing direct support to the Principal Officers, and acting as a point of contact for Fire Authority Members.

This is a varied and interesting role, working closely with senior managers and with sensitive / confidential information. Alongside excellent co-ordination and organisational skills, the successful candidate will be adaptable and flexible in their approach, with strong interpersonal skills.

The role:

The role will be involved in several areas of Business Support and Improvement including, but not limited to:

• Providing executive support to Principal Officers and the wider Executive Leadership Team
• Acting as a point of contact with Fire Authority (elected) Members.
• Co-ordination of Authority and Service meetings, ensuring appropriate governance arrangements are in place
• Supporting Principal Officers with local, regional and national work
• Preparing high quality, accurate committee reports
• Ensuring standardisation of corporate documentation
• Supporting the Executive Services Manager with event planning and management, for example medal ceremonies
• Supporting and co-ordinating improvement projects across the Service

Applications are welcome from individuals with exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills, who are experienced in working with senior management and effectively managing priorities and workloads. Applicants should be enthusiastic about the improvement of the Fire and Rescue Service.

You must be able to demonstrate the appropriate skills, knowledge and aptitude to undertake this role as outlined in the job description and person specification.
