Sunderland City Council has an exciting opportunity for 2 enthusiastic people who have a passion to develop a career in ICT to join the ICT Service Area as an ICT Apprentice.

It is expected that the candidate will work within various sections of the ICT Unit, including the 1st and 2nd line support, Infrastructure -and Business services teams.

They will actively seek to gain knowledge in the various roles, including knowledge transfer from other employees, to form a productive part of the team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support to the unit’s internal and external customers, in relation to all computing related issues.

They will be responsible for managing aspects of Active Directory, networking, configuration of Microsoft Windows operating systems, application support and troubleshooting of related hardware and software, as well as asset management.

As an ICT apprentice, you will undertake the Level 3 Infrastructure Technician apprenticeship and will be expected to attend Sunderland College 1 day per week. You will be supported through the apprenticeship by a College assessor and receive regular mentoring/guidance from your supervisor/team.

Candidates will need to demonstrate that they have prior knowledge and experience in ICT. Ideally candidates will have or expect to achieve 3 GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above in Maths and English. Candidates with equivalent qualifications or who have the ability to achieve a Level 2 in Maths/English alongside the apprenticeship are also encouraged to apply.
