Further Information
“This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.”
This post is based at the centre of the council in the Resources Directorate which has key responsibility for managing the council’s money and people, as well as ensuring that democratic decisions are well informed and legally sound.
The Council incurs a significant amount of sundry debt as part of providing services to the general public. The timely issue of debtor invoices and collection of these debts is of vital importance and can have a significant effect on the Council's overall cash flow, as well as reputation. We have an exciting opportunity within the Financial Services Transactions team for a full time Transactions Assistant. This post will specifically be involved in the raising of debtor invoices, maintenance of records on debt and debt collection activities within our financial system.
You will work within a busy and effective team that covers both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. Although the focus of this role is on the debt management side of the team's work, the posts are generic and there will be opportunities to undertake Accounts Payable tasks.
You will be a committed and motivated individual with a desire to learn and improve. A strong team player, you will have a flexible approach to ensure the delivery of the Council and the team's key priorities through a customer focussed service. You will also be expected to contribute to team projects and initiatives and be aware of emerging issues and developments within the Council.
The council holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.
We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
