Further Information

This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.

We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

We are a caring and supportive team; loyal and tenacious, with integrity at the heart of everything we do.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children?

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated Youth Support Worker Level 3 for 15 hours per week, who will preferably have experience of working and engaging with young people with a real commitment to improving outcomes for them.

You will need to be enthusiastic and creative and have a flexible approach to responding to the needs of the service and young people, leading on projects with Children In Our Care (CIOC) and supporting our Member Youth Parliament with their duties which will involve travelling to venues outside of the borough.

This will involve centre based activities and offsite educational visits, the ideal candidate for this role would have an interest in politics and passion for young people’s voices to be heard. They must have the ability to empathise and understand the challenges faced by CIOC within our Local Authority in order to allow them to reach their full potential.

Redcar & Cleveland Council have an attractive benefits package including:-

- Generous annual leave (minimum 28 days, pro rata)
- Flexible working hours
- Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
- Family friendly benefits
- Childcare voucher scheme
- Staff discount scheme
- Discount leisure facilities

The authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS) will be sought.

For more information or an informal discussion please contact Hellen Higgs on 07909906371.

As per its Pay Policy Statement published under section 38, Localism Act 2011, in the absence of any exceptional circumstances which render it necessary in the best interests of the authority to do so, the Council will generally not re-engage any individual whom has previously been employed by the Council and left that employment with the benefit of a severance, early retirement or redundancy payment.
