Sunderland College wishes to appoint two dynamic and newly qualified Graduate Counsellors to work within Student Services. These posts will provide a platform to gain varied and significant experience of working as a counsellor in an education setting.
The successful candidates would support the demands of the counselling service across all college campuses. The post-holders will work on an individual basis providing counselling support to students across the College. The appointees will be required to prepare their own caseload records and will be required to attend regular supervision sessions provided ‘in house’.
Applicants must have recently achieved a Foundation Degree or equivalent / higher level qualification in Counselling, completed in the last 2 years.
The successful candidates must have prior experience through placement or otherwise of working as practising counsellors.
Applicants must be able to work on their own initiative as well as being able to work as part of a team. Good organisational ability, a mature outlook and an empathy of the needs of young people would be essential. A knowledge of post 16 learning would be advantageous together with an understanding of Safeguarding Protocols.
The successful candidates must be independently mobile throughout the north east and individual BACP membership would be desirable.
For this post applicants should be able to demonstrate in their personal statement practical examples of how they fulfil the person specification.
