The Gateshead Housing Company is a non-profit organisation responsible for the day to day management of almost 20,000 homes on behalf of Gateshead Council and currently employs over 800 people. We are committed to providing our customers with the highest quality of service and we believe that the key to achieving this is to recruit enthusiastic, talented people with the right skills, knowledge, attitude and behaviour.

We’re looking to recruit a Site Manager (Electrical) to work within the Repairs and Maintenance team.

Key responsibilities of this role will be to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, customer-focused, health and safety-centred planned works repairs service.

Day-to-day you will lead by example, actively promoting a positive culture of health and safety practice across your team and wider organisation. You will actively support, coach and develop team members in line with company policies and procedures to maximise their full potential, ensuring both personal and organisational objectives are met.

You will be committed to the core company values and promoting cross service working, adapting positively to changing environments to achieve excellent customer service and outcomes.

About you
It’s important you are self-motivated and solution-focused, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

It is essential you have completed an NVQ Level 3 electrical apprenticeship, IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition and City & Guilds Inspection and Testing 2391 (I & T 2391 equivalent accepted). In addition, you must have up to date knowledge of industry codes of practice and standards, as well as significant experience of electrical installation methods, types, systems and materials.

As you will be required to sign off test certificates, you should be NICEIC Supervisor qualified. If not, you must be willing to undertake the NICEIC QS assessment within the first 6 months of employment.

You must be proactive, actively participating in the evaluation, development and continuous improvement of the service, keeping up to date with policies and procedures and participating in meetings. In addition, you must be willing to undertake further training and development as required.

It’s important that you lead by example, ensuring your conduct and behaviour embraces equality and promotes an inclusive and diverse working environment, constructively challenging unacceptable behaviour where necessary.

You must have working knowledge of the principles of construction, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience of using ICT packages.

As your time will be split between the office and sites across the borough of Gateshead, you must have access to mobility transport or hold a full driving licence. Access to your own vehicle would be beneficial, although not essential.
