ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER L7-11 (FULL TIME)

Beacon Hill is a school for pupils aged 3-19 with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, ASC and complex needs. The school has the delegated responsibility to lead and manage the Sensory Support Service, Portage Team & Early Years Inclusion Fund and Independent Travel Commissioned Service. These teams support early intervention and independence skills for the individual children and young people with specific ‘needs’ and work within homes, schools (both Mainstream and Special) and community provisions across North Tyneside.

The Governing Body of Beacon Hill School is seeking to appoint a committed, dynamic leader to join our forward thinking school. The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner within the field of special education (SLD/PMLD/ASC) with the motivation and energy to develop the role of Behaviour and Attitudes Assistant Headteacher within the school.

The successful candidate will be part of the senior leadership team with responsibility for the daily monitoring of attendance and behaviour under the direction of the Headteacher and support children and their families across school to ensure the a high level of student and parental engagement in learning. There will also be a three day teaching commitment.
The school is looking for a motivated and dynamic individual who can think creatively and initiate actions that impact on making a difference to the children at Beacon Hill School.

The successful candidate will
• Have over 5 years teaching experience within a specialist provision.
• An excellent practitioner who can enthuse and inspire.
• Have experience of leading whole school improvement.
• Support a learning and teaching ethos that values high quality creative approaches which support and challenge learners
• Be committed to inclusion and removing barriers to learning.
• Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
