We are seeking to appoint a temporary Public Health Practitioner to our Public Health Team.
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about public health, has experience of delivering or commissioning public health services with excellent interpersonal skills to engage partners in the development of health and wellbeing programmes.
Public Health Practitioners will be responsible for the delivery, coordination and facilitation of a range of evidence based public health programmes that build on local assets to address multiple health needs. This will include responsibility for a group of public health outcomes and process measures to achieve defined targets linked to the Public Health Outcomes Framework and mandated services which are a core function/ responsibility of Durham County Council.

You will be responsible for:
• Supporting the development and delivery of the public health contribution to health and social care integration
• Working with the councils Communications Department to support public health campaigns and engagement strategies.
• Providing the public health contribution to alcohol harm reduction as well as drug and alcohol recovery programmes
• Supporting the departments health protection role with regard to emergency planning, winter and heat wave planning.
• Supporting the team’s work on Ageing Well and long term condition, including reducing morbidity from cancer, CVD, respiratory disease, diabetes and the implementation of health checks

Required Qualifications: Applicants will be expected to hold relevant degree, supplemented by public health improvement knowledge, acquired through training, courses and experience; evidence of continuing professional development.
