The North East LEP leads on the development and delivery of the North East Strategic Economic Plan (SEP). It aims to be recognised locally and nationally as an exemplar for driving evidence based economic strategy, public policy and programme delivery.

The Chief Economist will take the lead in ensuring that there is a comprehensive and accessible economic evidence base available to the Board, the Executive Team and our partners, to support economic progress in the region. The postholder will lead a small team responsible for analysis of data and the development of our research and evaluation activities and will actively communicate this information, helping to ensure that there is a shared understanding of our region's economic opportunities and challenges.

You will be an experienced economist with a strong academic background and will be able to demonstrate practical application of economic analysis, research and evaluation to public policy and/or business development. You will have a strong understanding of the role of Local Enterprise Partnerships and our partners in supporting regional economic growth and development. You will be a great communicator able to translate data and research findings for a range of audiences, and be entrepreneurial and collaborative in outlook in the search for new ways of understanding and measuring our region's economic performance.
