The Review and Development Unit (IRO Service) is looking for experienced Social Work practitioners who are committed to providing an excellent service to vulnerable children and their families.

We have recently restructured the unit to include a Team Manager to strengthen the management support for IROs.

By increasing the capacity within the team we aim to ensure our most vulnerable children receive the best possible service to improve their outcomes. The successful candidates will ensure the provision of an effective reviewing system aimed at improving life chances for Middlesbrough children.

The successful candidate will be responsible for chairing reviews for young people and children who are Looked After, including adoptive placements, they will also have a key role in monitoring the effectiveness and implementation of plans.

As an Independent Reviewing Officer you will also be required to assist with other daily functions of the Review and Development Unit which includes chairing child protection conferences, chairing Secure Accommodation Reviews and Disruption Meetings.

You will need to adhere to timescales, practice guidance and policies. The role requires you to undertake audits and provide a quality assurance role for social work practice.

The successful candidate will have:

Extensive relevant experience in childcare Professional qualification CQSW/DipSW/SCC/Degree in Social Work

The ability to work as part of a team to ensure the effective delivery of the service

A sound knowledge of Social and Child Care Legislation, Safeguarding and Inter- Agency policies and procedures and current development in children's services
