Salary: £29,000 - £34,000 pro rata
First for Fostering are looking to recruit a qualified, suitably experienced Supervising Social Worker who is passionate about fostering and improving the outcomes for looked after children.
The successful applicant will need to have experience in the recruitment, assessment, and support of foster carers. You will have knowledge of Fostering legislation, procedure, and compliance. You will be child focused.
We will offer manageable caseloads to ensure you can provide bespoke support to foster carers, excellent training opportunities to further develop your practice and you will be part of a small, happy and motivated team.
As Supervising Social Worker your key responsibilities will be:
• The recruitment and selection of new foster carers, attendance at recruitment events.
• The robust assessment of potential foster carers, from initial visit to attendance and presentation to fostering panel.
• Facilitating training, preparatory and ongoing.
• Providing foster carers with excellent supervision, support and guidance.
• Identifying the training and development needs of foster carers
• Supporting the duty and referral process, and the careful matching of children and young people.
• Ensuring the involvement and participation of children/young people, parents and foster carers in the development of services
• Working alongside local authorities and other agencies.
• Participating in an out of hours rota
Essential skills and experience required:
• A recognised social work qualification
• Current HCPC registration
• At least two years’ experience relevant to fostering within the last 5 years
• Experience of managing a caseload and referrals,
• Good working knowledge of regulations and minimum standards
• Good understanding of attachment, trauma and secure base theories.
• Access to a vehicle is necessary (mileage and company expenses reimbursed by the company).
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Supervising Social Worker based within the North East. The head office is based within Darlington.
