An opportunity has arisen for two Trainee Surveyors to work within the Land and Investment Team, within the City Development Directorate at Sunderland City Council. Both posts are fixed term for 2 years with the potential for a further extension.

The successful candidate will play a key part of the City Council’s Land and Investment Team, supporting in the delivery of a range of disposal, acquisition, development, professional and asset management case work for Sunderland City Council, the Port and Siglion (the wholly owned Council development and investment company)

You will be a member of a team reporting to the Principal Surveyors in the delivery of the City Council’s property plan and work closely with officers, solicitors, planners, engineers, appointed agents and other professionals.

You will support in the delivery of a programme of City wide opportunities and help manage all phases of all cases within the team.

We are looking for someone with a relevant degree or professional qualification together with membership of, or training towards, an appropriate professional body (e.g. RICS). Some experience in commercial real estate would be beneficial although not essential. In addition, an understanding of delivering real estate solutions in a local government environment and across all use classes including residential would be desirable.

The successful candidate should be an organised individual with the ability to meet deadlines and work across different projects at any one time.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate continuous improvement and be keen to work for a large and dynamic organisation as it aims to deliver an ambitious City Plan and grow its reputation.
