Further Information
This is Redcar and Cleveland. We are an ambitious council keen to build on our strong track record of innovation and partnership working, ensuring that we create a flourishing future for the borough and all of its residents. Key to this is a committed workforce who always gives their best. Offering a fast paced, progressive working environment, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council is a great career move.

We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.

We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services.

We are a caring and supportive team; loyal and tenacious, with integrity at the heart of everything we do.

Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children?

If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.

We are looking to recruit 2 Part-Time Level 1 Youth Support Workers for our Streetz Detached Project on Friday evenings (occasional weekend and midweek days during school holidays), each working 5 hours; initially this will only be until 31st March 2021, subject to funding. Starting salary will be £10.21 Level 1.

This Youth Support Worker role offers an exciting opportunity to work informally with young people in a range of settings including sports fields, streets and estates, Youth Centres, schools, colleges and voluntary agencies etc. as part of Redcar and Cleveland's Early Help Youth and Community Service.

The post involves working alongside a range of partnership agencies in order to make contact with young people and Young people engaged in anti-social behaviour, in areas where this behaviour is identified as a problem. The post holder will respond swiftly to intelligence relating to youth anti-social behaviour and disorder by working in areas recognised as ‘hot spots’ for youth anti-social behaviour.

We are looking for applicants to work as part of a team within local communities using their experiences to support these young people to address risk taking behaviours including substance misuse, crime and anti-social behaviour and remove barriers for young people to engage in mainstream services and provision.

You will preferably have experience of working and engaging with young people and have a real commitment to improving outcomes for them. You will need to be enthusiastic and creative and have a flexible approach to responding to the needs of the service and young people.

The authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children/young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an enhanced disclosure & barring service check (DBS) will be sought.

The council holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award
We offer very attractive terms and conditions of employment, including generous annual leave entitlement, flexible working hours (where appropriate), membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme and access to numerous other salary sacrifice schemes and staff benefits/discounts, including a lease car scheme.
