At South Tyneside we want the voices of children and young people to inform what’s important to them. Our Participation and Engagement Team works to ensure that children and young people are engaged and listened to.

We are looking for a skilled professional who is committed to promoting the participation of children and young people, and is able to work creatively with children from a range of backgrounds to ensure their voices are heard.

You will be passionate about participation and enjoy the challenges of working in a range of settings as an effective champion of children’s rights and voices. You will have experience in participation work with children across a range of ages and backgrounds with a particular emphasis on children who are looked after and care leavers. You will also be able to demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding, as well as an insight into the specific challenges experienced by children today.

In addition to supporting ongoing work within the Participation Team, this role will focus on developing two key areas of our work: the participation of care leavers, and the engagement of children and young people with SEND

The post will include some evening work and occasional weekends.
