We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about the health and wellbeing of people in County Durham, to join our Public Health team as a COVID-19 Community Champions Programme Lead. The public health team has recently undergone a restructure to improve its alignment with emerging public health priorities across the life course, and greater integration within Durham County Council.
We are looking for a candidate with a track record of engaging and working with volunteers and communities, undertaking activities to support wellbeing, developing and delivering training activities, partnership working in a range of settings, with exceptional communication skills and ability to progress public health priorities through leadership and support.
The COVID-19 Community Champion programme is part of our wider engagement and communication approach to reach and support people at a locality level. The COVID-19 Community Champions Programme Lead will engage and support local people and organisations who want to make a difference in their communities by becoming COVID-19 Community Champions. The programme will build on the existing assets and partnerships in our communities promoting key messages, gathering feedback, helping us understand what is happening in our communities and shaping how we can best respond.
The COVID-19 Community Champion Programme Lead will, support and empower a team of Champions providing key information and resources in highly paced and changing times. They will also have a key role in developing partnerships with existing VCS organisations, Area Action Partnerships and other teams across DCC and partner organisations including NHS to ensure the COVID-19 Champions programme adds value to existing locality offers.
Required Qualifications: Training and education in a health or social care related subject. A relevant degree, supplemented by public health improvement knowledge, acquired through training, courses and experience.
