Further Information

Gateshead Council is a visionary and ambitious Local Authority - ambitious for Gateshead the place, and for the people who live and work here.

We have made significant investment into our Adult Social Care Service and are also embarking on a major transformation programme.

As a result, we have created a number of new and exciting roles to manage the Council’s approach to its residents ‘Living Thriving Lives’, as part of our strategic approach ‘Thrive’.

This is therefore an exciting opportunity for you to undertake a critical role in developing integrated and modern service delivery models and transformational models of care and support that can divert and delay demand, generate substantial efficiency savings and improvements to the quality of service provision.

You will also be responsible for the direction, coordination and implementation of the Service’s Business Development and Improvement activities and programmes.

To achieve this, you will need to build a wide range of strategic partnerships with relevant organisations/partners and cultivate these relationships to help deliver the service’s priorities and targets. You will also develop innovative commercial and digital solutions to maximise opportunities to generate income and ensure technology supports and improves service delivery.

You must therefore have extensive knowledge and understanding of trading and commercialisation principles, marketing strategies and business development practices. You will have extensive understanding of IT systems and packages including Microsoft Office. You will be an excellent communicator both verbal and written and possessing very strong presentation skills at a board level.

You must also have highly developed analytical skills with an ability to target information for different audiences and be able to deliver effective working relationships across agency boundaries.

You will be able to demonstrate a proven ability in innovating new service delivery models and Implementing change projects in a customer focused environment. You will have experience at a senior level in either marketing or a related operational field and have significant project management experience, including the introduction of new systems and technology.

You will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject.

Ideally you will be aware of the strategic challenges that are faced in the health or adult social care sector and have an understanding of the Health and Social Care integration agenda.
