We are seeking to recruit an Environmental Health Officer with a passion for improving public health and protecting the environment to join our Environmental Protection Team.

The role will suit an experienced officer however applications are also encouraged from trainee or graduate candidates. Sunderland City Council is keen to support talented, aspiring graduates with the right skill set to embark in a career in Environmental Health. Support to achieve fully qualified and professional status will be provided as part of a career progression scheme.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills and be confident dealing with members of the public, carrying out investigations and drafting reports. Experience of undertaking Environmental Permitting inspections, noise assessments, planning consultations and enforcement activity would be desirable however we will consider applicants with other areas of specialist experience.

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board is required for the Senior role and a Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent in Acoustics is also desirable.
