We have many reasons to be proud of our existing services for children, young people and their families in Redcar and Cleveland.
We have a passionate workforce who are committed to supporting children and young people to feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve. We respect everyone as equally valued members of our community by listening to their views and using their opinions to help shape our services. Are you the right person to help us to develop a brighter future for our children?
If you share the ethos of Redcar and Cleveland’s Children and Families Directorate, this could be the opportunity you are looking for.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council’s Families Together Service delivers care and interventions to children, young people on the Edge of Care and their families. The service delivers structured, evidence-based interventions for children, young people and families as part of the overall intervention plan.
As a Family Network/Conferencing facilitator you and your colleagues will be responsible for preparing and supporting families to meet, negotiate and agree a plan/agreement that is future focused and addresses safety and safeguarding concerns. Areas of work will include, domestic violence, children/young people on the edge of care, child protection, court-initiated FGCs and mediation, homelessness, and early intervention.
To achieve positive change, you will work under the direction of the Project Development Officer and will work directly with children, young people and families to provide mediation and to encourage family decision making and responsibility for their children and young people by negotiating and discussing support within their family network to ensure the safeguarding of children and young people.
Improved outcomes for families will be demonstrated by working to increase and improve family relationships and secure safe living arrangements for children and young people within their families where possible. Central to this is the collaboration and partner working with children, young people and their families or carers, other services within the Local Authority, commissioned services, voluntary agencies and external stakeholders.
You will need to be willing and able to work flexibly, as this may involve some evening and weekend work.
You will also be required to provide up to 3 weeks per year out of hours support on an on call basis. During this time you may be required to work outside of normal working hours and at weekends. When on call you will receive a payment of £190 per week (before deductions). If you are required to come in to work when on call you will be paid additional hours or accrue time off in lieu, to be discussed and agreed with the Families Together Manager.
