At Northumberland County Council we are proud of our employees, who are passionate and committed to improving outcomes for our children and young people, ensuring that they feel safe, healthy, happy and ready to learn and achieve.

We are seeking an experienced Administration Assistant to join our Admin & Finance Team with a focus on our Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children (UASC) to help support the work undertaken within our Service to ensure our UASC young people are looked after and given the best start to their lives in the UK. You will also be supporting the team with budget responsibilities, again, particularly focusing on UASC.

In addition, you will be expected to join as a full member of the Admin & Finance Team to assist with minute taking, performance work, petty cash and generic mailbox admin tasks, etc. The role will be varied, fast paced and requires a high degree of accuracy. You will need to be committed to supporting our frontline staff who strive to give our young people the support and care they deserve for the brightest future they can have.

We would like you to have at least two years’ experience in a busy office environment and demonstrate and evidence your knowledge and skills. You will need a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel as there will be a short performance related task, which will be sent to you should you be shortlisted for interview.

You will need to be enthusiastic, with a positive, can-do attitude; enjoy supporting those around you, and be a real team player. We would like you to help us continue to develop our services to an outstanding standard.

This post will be fixed term for 12 months.
