Gateshead Council are looking to recruit a full time gas qualified plumber on a permanent basis. The role is within our Building Maintenance team to provide services to council buildings and external clients during an exciting time of service development.

You will work at a variety of locations across Gateshead, installing repairing and maintaining installations including carrying out water hygiene related activities and will be expected to work with a lot of flexibility in terms of where they are employed.

The key roles of the post are included in the job profile and include a wide range of duties working on domestic and commercial plumbing systems, sanitary ware, drainage systems. At all times you will be expected to liaise with clients and provide a high level of customer care. Included in the role is the use of a Council vehicle so a full UK driving licence is essential.

It is essential that you have knowledge of maintenance and servicing regimes and relevant legislation, good verbal and written communication skills and experience of working on domestic boiler replacements and servicing, installing, servicing and working on domestic gas installations. It is equally essential that you have time served / NVQ or equivalent gas and plumbing qualification, ACS gas qualification elements CCN1, CENWAT, CPA1, HTR1, a current CSCS card and a full (Category B) UK driving licence.

The role will involve working in locations where vulnerable adults and children are present and therefore employment will be dependent on a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
