A Development & Engagement Officer is required on a full-time basis which is temporary until 31st December 2021 (or the day before the return of the substantive post holder).

Durham County Council provides Apprenticeships, Education & Training, Community Learning, Traineeships, Supported Internships and 16-24 SEND provision to its residents through our Service, the Adult Learning and Skills Service (ALSS).

Our most recent OFSTED short inspection in May 2018 graded the service as good with outstanding features. We provide a comprehensive curriculum to meet our service aims and objectives, consisting of accredited and non-accredited learning programmes. The ambitious curriculum is designed to engage a broad range of learners, including those who are economically inactive with low or no qualifications and, to a lesser extent, individuals who are in employment and require retraining and / or upskilling.

The successful post holder will ensure learners have access to high quality, impartial IAG (Information, Advice and Guidance), work in partnership with others to promote a culture of lifelong learning and ensure learners have a good understanding their progression opportunities.

Required qualifications: Level 3 Advice and Guidance Qualification recognised by the Careers Development Institute or willingness to complete within 24 months.
