Further Information
We are seeking to appoint an experienced Out of School/Childcare Deputy Manager to work as part of our team and contribute to the outstanding education, care, safety, welfare, wellbeing, happiness and behaviour that we strive to achieve for the pupils at our school.

About us:
Marine Park is a purpose built, PFI School on an extensive and attractive coastal site in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside. The school is the largest First School in North Tyneside, currently attracting and serving 520 pupils from a wide catchment.

The school provides a wide range of Extended Services. Pre and after school child care is available during term time (8-9 a.m. and 3.30-6 p.m.) and Nursery children access the 30 hour offer. The club is one of the largest “out of school providers” in North Tyneside. The club is popular, often oversubscribed and successful. On average, 100 pupils access the club before school (breakfast), 110 access the club after school and 38 pupils access the 30 hour provision (during the day).

We can offer you:
• Enthusiastic, motivated and friendly children.
• Dedicated, hardworking and talented staff who are passionate about what they do.
• A skilled, ambitious governing body, committed to helping the school move forward.
• Supportive parents/carers.
• Professional development opportunities.
• Time, each week, to fulfil your leadership and management role.

Our children have asked for you to be:
• Someone that listens to us, is interested in what we say and includes our ideas.
• Someone with lots of ideas and who organises games for us to play.
• Someone who reads us stories.
• Someone who is arty and plans creative activities.
• Someone who is friendly and responsible.
• Someone who is kind and funny.
• Someone who helps us to follow the rules so we know what to do safely.
• Someone who provides nice snacks!

You will have:
• Knowledge of quality childcare practice to encompass the wide breadth of 3-9 years.
• Knowledge of child development and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Experience of curriculum planning particularly for the Early Years.
• Ability to support, act and advise others in a calm and professional manner.
• A good level of basic skills, including literacy, numeracy, budgets, financial systems and ICT.
• Ability to manage and maintain an online payment and booking system.
• Ability to support the Manager to ensure the development of new initiatives and maintain high standards of care and education.
• Experience of Safeguarding and Child Protection.
• Extremely high expectations of pupils and a full commitment to raising the wellbeing for all pupils, whatever their needs.

You will be:
• Someone who can support the leadership and management of a large staff team.
• Someone who puts children first and is committed to inclusion.
• Someone who can present as an excellent role model and have high standards for pupils and staff.
• Someone who is able to lead on the organisation and paperwork relating to the 30 Hour offer.
• An excellent communicator with pupils, staff, parents and carers.
• Someone who can ensure a welcoming and supportive environment for all pupils and staff.

This recruitment presents an opportunity to review the work pattern for the right candidate. The successful candidate would be expected to work 5 days per week covering breakfast and after school provision; as part of the 32.5 hours there would also be time for leadership and management tasks, which could be blocked or worked equally as split shift pattern. This post is term time only over 193 days.

If you would like to know more about the school and the essential and desirable requirements of the post, visit the website (particularly the 30 Hour Offer and Out of School Club page), download an application pack and telephone or email the school (which is very much encouraged). Tel: 0191 2534343 or email: info@marineparkfirst.org.uk. Please ask to speak to/make emails for the attention of Jill Nicholson (the Deputy Headteacher).

This school is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) and will need to have two fully supportive references from current employers.

If you can work collaboratively with a positive staff team, a supportive governing body and, above all, engaging children, please return an application form to the school. You can post it to us, hand it in at the school office or email it back to us: info@marineparkfirst.org.uk. Ensure that the “Skills” section of the form aligns with the job description/person specification and is no longer than two pages and that any covering letter is no longer than one page. Governors in the selection team will be particularly receptive to read short examples/case studies, which prove you have the experience/ability to meet the requirements of the job description. It is an essential requirement of the selection process to submit a well-constructed application form relevant to the job description, person specification and Marine Park First School. Also be aware that we will not consider late applications. We very much look forward to receiving your application no later than 3.30 p.m. on 22/01/2021.
