Further Information

We are investing in our workforce and as a consequence are recruiting 6 additional social workers in our Safeguarding, Assessment and Support Teams working with children and families. We operate on a relational social work model incorporating the principles of the Signs of Safety framework. The teams provide a comprehensive social work service from the point of assessment through to permanence, we do this to support consistency of relationships and practice for children and their families.

We are committed to providing high quality services to children, young people and their families and offer an excellent working environment valuing supervision, training and opportunities for professional development.

Children’s Services in Hartlepool prioritise the wellbeing of staff through manageable caseloads, a highly supportive and visable management team, an excellent staff wellbeing at work offer and a very positive culture of support and development. Currently we are also offering a retention payment to experienced Social Workers.

Our recent Ofsted ILAC inspection and focused visit judged us as being ‘good’ regarding the effectiveness of our safeguarding services and outcomes for children and young people as well as outstanding for services to Looked After Children.

You should possess or graduate this year with a social work qualification at a degree or diploma level (or equivalent).

The welfare of our staff is paramount and during the Covid pandemic we have ensured that all safety measures are in place and risk assessments have been completed to cover office/home working, home visiting and face to face contact with parents/carers and their children.

Hartlepool Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. This post is subject to safer recruitment measures, including an enhanced DBS barring list check and also need to be registered with the HCPC.
