Further Information
Located at the heart of Weardale, an area of outstanding natural beauty, Wolsingham School is just a short drive west of Durham. Based on our four pillars of academic excellence, a rich extracurricular life, character and citizenship, and exceptional pastoral care, we are committed to helping every child fulfil their true potential. We are seeking a new Assistant Head Teacher to join our cohesive, supportive and highly dedicated Senior Team.

We want to find the right fit for our team. The other senior leaders are flexible and can adjust their responsibilities so that you can play to your own strengths - whether they are in teaching and learning, pastoral leadership, or raising achievement and progress. We welcome initiative and creativity so in your application, explain your vision for your role as Assistant Head Teacher and how your experience and skills will enable you to deliver that vision.

We are also seeking an excellent classroom practitioner and, again, have some room for flexibility - the successful candidate should be able to teach a Core Subject (Maths, English or Science) or Humanities (History or Geography).

Wolsingham School combines a commitment to high standards and a family atmosphere. Students are well-behaved and their relationships with staff are excellent. We run 10-15 extracurricular clubs each term and a huge range of educational visits throughout the year. In 2018, Ofsted warmly confirmed our ‘Good’ rating saying, “Pupils are very happy at school and wear their uniform with pride.”

You would find Wolsingham a fantastic place to work. We have a full calendar of leadership training opportunities for middle and senior leaders and being part of the Advance Learning Partnership MAT creates additional training and career development opportunities. Our staff are also extremely supportive and work as a team to help every student reach their full potential.

The Advance Learning Partnership is an Equal Opportunities Employer, and we welcome applications regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity or religion. Applicants with disabilities will be invited for interview if the essential job criteria are met. Our school is also committed to the protection and safety of its students; any offer of employment will be subject to receipt of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check and appropriate references.

The Head Teacher, Mr Jonathan Ferstenberg, would be very happy to answer any questions you have or to meet with you virtually. To arrange this or to ask any other questions, please contact Miss Laura Percival, our Academic Logistics Officer, on 01388 527302 or email info@wolsinghamschool.net

Applications may be downloaded from our website, which includes a video and virtual tour of our school as well as other helpful information.
