Bamburgh School is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and inspiring Communication Support Worker to join our successful team. We are a school for pupils age 4 - 16 whose special needs cover a broad spectrum of medical, physical, social, emotional and moderate learning difficulties.
You will work under the direction of the Teacher to facilitate communication in order to support the learning, educational progress and inclusion of a profoundly deaf child, therefore experience of supporting a profoundly deaf child is essential. You will support the pupil’s access to the curriculum and participation in the life of the school by combining BSL with other methods to provide effective communication.
In order to be successful for this Communication Support Worker position you must:
• Hold a relevant British Sign Language qualification at Level 3;
• Have excellent classroom management skills;
• Have strong subject and curriculum knowledge at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4;
• Have experience of supporting deaf children, which can be referenced;
• Have a commitment to contributing to school life and our community;
• Possess the skills to provide feedback to pupils/parents and teaching colleagues regarding progress and achievement.
