The post holder will be accountable for the day-to-day operational supervision and organisation in the feasibility, design and delivery of major highway and civil engineering planned works and reactive highway works undertaken directly by highways operatives, Streetscene operatives or sub-contractors. You will support the Transportation and Highways Strategy Manager – Engineering, Highways, Licensing & Parking in positively contributing to the achievement of the Council and Service core values and strategies.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of planning, developing and implementing solutions to engineering related problems, experience of CDM, Health & Safety, Chapter 8, NEC3 and have excellent interpersonal skills.

The council holds ambassador status for the North East Better Health at Work Award.
