SELEfirst has a vacancy for a full time Class Teacher from September 2021 on a fixed term contract for one year. The successful candidate will:

Be responsible for learner achievement within class/classes through effective teaching and learning. They will be responsible for the monitoring and development of an aspect of pupil learning or curriculum area across the school.

Establish and maintain a supportive ethos which enables learners to achieve their potential through creating and managing a positive learning environment and behaviour management strategy.

Be directly responsible for the standards and progress of a class of children and be directly responsible for the quality of their own teaching.

Be directly responsible for the quality of assessment, recording and reporting on the development and progress of learners in a sensitive, clear, accurate and informed manner.

Be directly responsible for the analysis of relevant data to promote the highest possible aspirations for learners, targeting expectations and actions to raise their achievements.

Be able to show continuing development of teaching expertise and subject/phase knowledge to enrich the learning experience with a class and across a group of learners.

Be able to contribute positively, consistently and effectively to the ongoing development of the school and to take responsibility for an aspect or area of development across school. Monitor and develop this area to ensure appropriate opportunities are offered for learner aspirations to be met.

Work collaboratively, within and beyond the classroom, with support staff (including directing their day-to-day work), teachers, other professionals, parents, agencies and communities to enhance teaching and learning and to promote the positive contribution and well-being of learners.

Play a role in the development and application of priorities, policies and activities to further the achievement of whole school aims.

Support and implement practices and policies which encourage mutual tolerance and respect for diversity in all aspects of employment.

Contribute to the development of the ‘whole school’ through full involvement in school based activities and participation in extra-curricular school activities.

Play a regular and active role in the provision of extra-curricular activities with children across school.
