North Durham Academy are looking to appoint an experienced Education Welfare Officer.

Grade 4 – Term Time + 1 week
£20,771 - £23,393 per annum (actual salary for TT+1 working pattern)

The Education Welfare Officer is responsible for applying the attendance and punctuality policy and identifying children/families in need of support. You will be expected to visit parents/carers in their homes to identify reasons for non-attendance and agree a course of action whilst offering support, care and guidance as required. You will lead CPD where appropriate, to support Academy staff in regard to attendance policies and procedures and in relation to improving attendance of groups and individuals.

The successful applicant will promote the culture and vision of the academy by being a positive role model to all students, upholding a vision of inclusion and learning. Additionally, you will work closely with external agencies for both support for families and legal proceedings taken with families

Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience of attendance and have at least 2 years’ previous experience of working with in a school environment, supporting young people and their families. You must also have excellent communication skills, resilience, empathy and be able to work effectively under pressure.
