Following a review of SEND provision within Newcastle an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Preparation for Adulthood Lead, working as a key part of a new SEND structure for Newcastle, investing in the support and services we offer to children and young people.
You will use your knowledge and experience of working with young people aged 14-25 with SEND, alongside your excellent knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice to develop policies and processes which deliver good outcomes for children, young people and their families, ensuring the City Council meets its statutory responsibilities in this area.
Managing a small team of Caseworkers, you will provide strong leadership and guidance and continually seek to develop skills and experiences within your team with an understanding and commitment to shared learning and a collaborative approach to work.
You will use your excellent communication and organisational skills to work across sectors, establishing and developing effective professional relationships, and dealing with challenges in a constructive and proactive way always maintaining the focus on trying to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
Newcastle City Council offers the opportunity to work in a vibrant city within proactive and committed services with a genuine focus on establishing services and processes which support positive outcomes for the residents of Newcastle.
As an employee of NCC, you will access a flexible working scheme, have the ability to work from home as appropriate, as well as accessing annual leave and the Local Government Pension Scheme. As part of the SEND service you will join a positive, supportive and committed service, and will be a valued member where ideas and suggestions to continuously improve are shared and welcomed as part of a continual commitment to improvement.
