St Robert of Newminster Catholic School and Sixth Form College is seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant into our team. We are passionate about creating a safe and supportive learning environment that fosters respect for others, develops resilience, promotes high expectations and prepares young people for successful futures.
The main responsibility of the post will be to support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum, both by directly working with pupils and assisting in preparation of resources. Applicants should be innovative, enthusiastic and flexible and have an interest and knowledge of child development and an understanding of child protection procedures. Applications should be able to demonstrate a sensitive and empathetic approach to working with young people. If successful, you will become part of a very committed and hardworking team. While some experience of working with vulnerable people is preferable it is not essential. We will provide you with high quality training and support.

The successful application will also:
? Work as part of the school to support interventions with students who require additional mentoring to achieve GCSE.
? Work with other small groups and individual students across Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 as required.
? Promote the learning and welfare of students by providing practical and learning support to students, including those with special needs, under the direction of a class teacher/SENDCo.
? Enjoy the challenges and rewards of working with teaching staff to support pupils, individually or in small groups. The role is an exciting chance to play a pivotal role in a supportive and friendly team and is also a great opportunity for those wishing to pursue a career in secondary teaching.

You should have:
? Good language literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
? Be educated to a minimum of GCSE or equivalent level
? Good communication skills and a commitment to equal opportunities.

The Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed.
