We are looking for an exemplary teacher of English to match the aspirations of our students and to join an experienced and talented team. English is taught in sets at both key stages, although the Faculty believes that every student is entitled to access the same texts. Therefore, we are looking for a skilled practitioner who can make challenging texts accessible and engaging for all. The curriculum places literature and high-quality nonfiction at the heart of all our schemes of learning and, while these are established, we would welcome someone with fresh ideas and perspectives to add to our practice. At Key Stage 4, students take the AQA GCSE examinations and all students study both language and literature.
Applications are welcome from those who can teach to both key stages and to all ability levels. Above all, we are looking for someone with a real passion for the subject, whose teaching is rooted in the joy of words and in the beauty of great writing; someone who is able to inspire students to share that joy; someone who can challenge every student to use great writing as models for their own pieces.
