Together for Children in Sunderland has been responsible for delivering Children’s Services in Sunderland since 1 April 2017 and is seeking to expand the Educational Psychology Service by appointing a talented and enthusiastic, team-oriented practitioner. You will join the Service at a time of responsive transition when systems and interventions are adapting and responding to the educational and psychological challenges linked to the impact of COVID 19 for children, young people, families and local educational settings.

The Service encourages and supports creative thinking to develop new solutions aimed at enhancing the educational achievement and wellbeing of children and young people with special educational needs. We deliver a well-received commissioned Service Level Agreement to schools and other settings and provide expertise into established integrated pathways for Early Years and Emotional Health teams.

We would welcome hearing from ambitious candidates who have specialist knowledge, skills or interests linked to promoting Preparation for Adulthood frameworks for children and young people across all ages and transition stages. Within this context opportunity exists to incorporate research and innovative models of practice working collaboratively with our professional partners, students and families.

The Educational Psychology Service advocates effective child-centered, evidence-based practices. This includes a commitment to providing relevant and purposeful assessments intrinsically linked to educational and psychological principles and research enabling and influencing outcomes to improve educational achievement, emotional well-being and independence in adult life

You will have demonstrable competencies relating to the delivery of statutory responsibilities within the service. You will also support the delivery of responsive commissioned services to schools and other settings. Scope exists to develop a rich, and diverse portfolio of activities. This will incorporate early intervention strategies and systemic consultative approaches, psychometric investigation and therapeutic techniques to support children, young people and families. A desire to engage in research and development is expected of you to maintain high levels of service and personal growth.

You can look forward to joining a small, energetic Service where team spirit is strong and individual growth and ambition is encouraged. We have excellent administrative support and agile working routines. We offer an induction package plus supervision and peer support. CPD activities are flexible and person centered.

Sunderland is conveniently located for road, rail and air travel.

You will possess a BSc(Hons) in Psychology recognised by the British Psychological Society and hold or be working towards completion of a post graduate qualification in Educational Psychology.

Applicants must be professionally qualified and registered with the HCPC
An enhanced DBS check is required for this post
