“South Tyneside is a fantastic place to be; with passionate people, who really care about each other; great partnership working as part of our South Tyneside Alliance; some amazing services and a real sense of community spirit.” If this sounds like the right working environment for your next career move, then come and join us in Adults and Integrated Care.

Having been highly commended in the Skills for Care Accolades awards 2020 for the most effective collaborative approach to integrated new models of care category and a finalist in the national Social Work Awards and the LGC Awards, Adult Social Care in South Tyneside continues to develop and flourish as part of our exciting journey of change.

Working as a Social Worker is both challenging and rewarding. Assigned to our Safeguarding Adults Team, you will undertake a range of strengths-based interventions aligned to the Making Safeguarding Personal agenda, to ensure adults with care and support needs and their families and carers' achieve their desired outcomes. You will undertake a range of duties including Section 42 Enquiries as required by the Care Act 2014, support and advise colleagues and partner organisations on the requirements of safeguarding and attend multi agency complex management meetings.

Working with people and their families and carers' remains a central part of what we do to ensure that they are able to make choices and decisions about their lives. Focusing upon individual outcomes; putting the person in control and making the best use of our resources are at the heart of our Adult Social Care Strategy. Our aim is to work with all our partners and deliver Practice to be Proud of to support the people of South Tyneside to Live Better Lives. Our Let’s Talk Together strengths based approach, based on 3 conversations allows us to build effective relationships to find out what really matters to the people we work with and enables us to get to know our surrounding communities, so we can link people with the right level of support.

We remain committed to developing a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, of openness and transparency and of inspirational leadership, grounded in our values and behaviour framework: Moving Forward Together: Our Values; Our Behaviours; Our Future. We want to recruit people who share this aim and provide them with the training and development to do their jobs to the best of their abilities.

If you are committed to adults having choice and control over their support, maximising opportunities for independence and well-being and working in partnership, then this is the job for you. For an informal discussion about the opportunities available please contact Jeanette Penman, Principal Social Worker on 0191 424 7491 or contact Lisa Naisbet, Safeguarding Adults Manager on (0191) 424 4081 or email: Lisa.naisbet@southtyneside.gov.uk.

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
