Further Information
You will be responsible for the provision of technical advice; the preparation & implementation of highway & flood risk management plans / strategies;
and the investigation, preparation & implementation of grant aided flood alleviation schemes and flood alleviation schemes
You will liaise with Gateshead Council services, external partners and other interested parties to ensure effective project delivery.

Other duties will include management of Gateshead Council’s statutory functions under the Flood & Water Management Act 2010 and the supervision of flood risk colleagues in the Highway & Flood Risk Management team.

You will have knowledge of civil engineering practise and procedures (in particular highway
drainage.
Sustainable drainage systems, public sewerage and flood risk management.
Asset management computer systems and graphical information systems.
Knowledge of statutory duties, responsibilities and powers in relation to highway and flood risk management is also essential.

You will hold an appropriate degree or have equivalent relevant experience. Relevant experience at appropriate level of responsibility in a flood risk, construction or civil engineering environment is also essential for this role.

You should have a current driving licence, access to a car or means to mobility support.
