Economic Advisor, Fixed term for 2 years

The North of Tyne Combined Authority is a ground-breaking organisation, with the transfer of unprecedented new powers from Government to the North of Tyne. We will make an ambitious contribution to the lives of local people, with a clear priority to help the communities we serve to fulfil their true potential – in all aspects of life. We will be managing and allocating an Investment Fund of £600 million for the next 30 years. Our work is diverse and covers areas from business support and growth to employment and skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to play your part in shaping the future of the North of Tyne economy by proactively shaping and supporting the delivery of our ambitions for the Digital and Healthy Ageing Sectors.

You will inform strategy and programme manage investment that supports the recovery and growth of our key sectors and account manage a portfolio of active programmes and projects – supporting them to maximise their impact, drive collaboration and maintain alignment with our shared objectives. You will always have an eye on the future too - identifying gaps, unmet needs, and opportunities to be pursued in partnership with our key stakeholders.

We are looking for an outstanding individual to shape and manage key aspects of our economic growth programme – focussed on what the key sectors named in our Economic Vision require to recover and grow. The post holder will manage the delivery of a portfolio of projects, including but not limited to the digital and Healthy Ageing sectors.

The role is suitable for a pro-active self-starter with a background in economic development, and/or with an in-depth understanding of the sectors above and a strong programme management and partnership background. The postholder should also have excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.

If you are interested in this opportunity, we would love to hear from you.

At North of Tyne Combined Authority, we don’t just accept difference, we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our team, our mission, and our residents. We are proud to embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
