Further Information
The North of Tyne Combined Authority is a ground-breaking organisation, with the transfer of unprecedented new powers from Government to the North of Tyne. We will make an ambitious contribution to the lives of local people, with a clear priority to help the communities we serve to fulfil their true potential – in all aspects of life. We will be managing and allocating an Investment Fund of £600 million for the next 30 years. Our work is diverse and covers areas from business support and growth to employment and skills.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to play your part in shaping the future of the North of Tyne economy. You will be at the heart of our approach to data driven insights – leading us towards an improved understanding of our area that can shape our actions now and into the future.

You will support our Chief Economist and the wider team, providing analytical input and support that can inform regular economic updates, our policies, strategies, and business cases for funding. You will provide the evidence base that informs our approach to recovery and growth – collaborating with the wider team to identifying gaps, unmet needs, and opportunities to be pursued in partnership with our key stakeholders.

We are looking for an outstanding individual with significant experience of economic analysis and delivering data led insight. This includes a strong track record of working with official national statistics and other robust sources of data – but also the creativity to develop more rapid local insights including through real time data and direct data collection. Important to us is what data tells us – not how much we have – so your ability to take new and novel perspectives on long-standing issues is critical.

The postholder should also have excellent communication skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.

If you are interested in this opportunity, we would love to hear from you.

At North of Tyne Combined Authority, we don’t just accept difference, we celebrate it, we support it, and we thrive on it for the benefit of our team, our mission, and our residents. We are proud to embrace diversity and equal opportunity in a serious way. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. The more inclusive we are, the better our work will be.
