Further Information
“Moving to a green, healthy, dynamic and thriving North East” is our region’s vision for transport. For passengers and freight, Transport North East oversees strategic transport planning at a regional level on behalf of the North East Joint Transport Committee, representing the seven local authorities in our region.
The recent publication of the North East Transport Plan, and the Government’s Bus Strategy is a game changer for public transport in our region. Rapidly, we will be moving towards partnership working with bus operators to deliver a network to help our region recover economically, and prosper in the long term.
We’re looking for a fixed term Network Planning Officer in our bus partnerships team to support us through this transformational journey. The vacancy is for a period of approximately 6 months.
You will play a part in the development of a Bus Service Improvement Plan for our region which means you need a sound analytical mind set and are able to review complex data, from financial to geospatial, to reach conclusions and make recommendations over the future of region’s public transport network.
The process will be highly collaborative working with partners in local authorities, Nexus and the bus operators. This is a specialist role: you will need to demonstrate knowledge of public transport policy or operations; and we’d especially welcome candidates who have an experience of a Local Government perspective of the network. The role will involve the preparation of reports and other documents which will be received by senior stakeholders so you will be able to write and communicate to an excellent standard.
Critically, you will be part of a project crucial to the success of our region and its public transport network. Why not join us on the Transport North East journey?
