We are currently looking to recruit a permanent Fire Safety Officer. The post holder will work as part of the Council’s Corporate Health and Safety (H&S) function.

You will be required to work from home, with a future blend of office-based work in the Civic Centre, Newcastle. The post will involve travel to and from sites. Less than full time hours will be considered.

The Council has a large operational property portfolio encompassing a wide variety and complexity of buildings. The successful candidate will be involved in carrying out fire risk and DSEAR assessments and producing reports for these buildings as part of a prioritised fire risk assessment programme. The successful candidate will also be expected to coach and mentor other members of the H&S Team to build their fire risk assessment knowledge and contribute to the Council’s Corporate approach on fire safety management.

The successful candidate should have recent experience in conducting fire risk assessments across a wide variety of buildings, ideally encompassing higher risk buildings. They should hold an appropriate NVQ L3 qualification in Fire risk assessment such as the NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or appropriate equivalent.
