Gateshead Public Health Team
This is an exciting opportunity to join Gateshead’s Public Health team, which is being expanded as the Council takes forward its Thrive strategy, with health and wellbeing at its heart, and builds its recovery from the impact of COVID-19. We are seeking to appoint a full time, permanent Public Health Advanced Practitioner (Grade N).
This post will join the Public Health senior management team, working closely with The Director of Public Health and Consultant team. You will take a lead role in the work to improve health and wellbeing locally and support our recovery from the impact of COVID-19. You will use your public health skills, knowledge and experience to shape the delivery of evidence-based services to meet the needs of local people and tackle inequalities in health, working with other Council services, partners in the NHS and third sector and with local communities. You will take lead responsibility for a programme area but combine this with a professional role across the public health team. The job may involve staff management and some on-call commitment.
It is essential that you have a master’s degree in Public Health, or an equivalent related qualification, good knowledge of relevant legislation, national strategies and policies and experience in delivering public health interventions in partnership with local communities and a range of agencies.
During the selection process candidates will be assessed against the essential knowledge, experience and qualifications as set out in the job profile.
Flexible working and requests for working remotely will be considered.
For an informal discussion please contact Gerald Tompkins, Consultant in Public Health on 0191 433 2914.
