The Landscape Design Services Team within the Capital Projects Team in the Infrastructure, Planning and Transportation Directorate is seeking an Assistant Landscape Architect to work on the design and delivery of the Council’s capital programme. Current workload includes city centre and sea front public realm projects, new schools and play areas, master-planning work and development control.

You will join a progressive, friendly team that has gained recognition for its design skills through several award-winning projects. The team has an extensive range of exciting projects and the successful applicant will be allocated their own projects to deliver with appropriate supervision. Mentoring will be offered for those who are seeking to progress towards Chartership with the Landscape Institute.

The team works closely with colleagues in Development Management, Regeneration, Urban Design, Civil and Highways Engineering and Ecology. Later this year staff will be moving into new city centre offices as part of the extensive Riverside Sunderland regeneration programme.

Candidates will need to demonstrate, design flair, good AutoCAD and graphic skills and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.

You will have a degree/post graduate qualification in landscape architecture and relevant experience in a professional environment.

Candidates should also be able to demonstrate initiative, customer care and good written and oral communication skills.
