Further Information
Temporary Enhanced Teaching Assistant (SEND)
Grade 5 £20,092 - £22,183 pro rata
Required From 1st September 2021 Until 31st August 2022

The Governors of Catchgate Primary School are seeking to appoint an experienced and committed Teaching Assistant, to specifically support children with SEND Needs.

This post is required from 1st September 2021, temporary for one year ending on 31st August 2022. Funding (for named pupils) received from the LA SEND Team is attached to the post; therefore, if there are changes to funding throughout the year the post will be subject to review.

Working across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 the successful candidate must have experience of working with children with additional needs and experience of working across the full primary school age range.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong passion for learning and be proven in ability to engage and enthuse their pupils, ensuring that each child is able to meet their full potential, in particular those with special educational needs.

The successful candidate will support a number of children with varying needs, working alongside teaching staff and directed overall by the SENCO/Head Teacher.

General Teaching Assistant duties will be part of the role, including:

• Preparation of resources for the delivery of interventions
• Support to class teachers
• End of day support
• 1:1 and group support
• Contribute to plans and reports as appropriate
• Class cover

As an enhanced Teaching Assistant there is the opportunity to become further involved with SEND Provision overall and potentially a responsibility within the team.

Calculation of term time only plus two weeks’ pay

Term time only plus two additional weeks’ pay is calculated on the basis of the following:
• Number of ‘teaching’ weeks – 38 weeks; plus
• Public (bank) holidays – 1.6 weeks (8 days); plus
• Two additional weeks, inclusive of CPD – 2 weeks; plus
• Individual leave entitlement - 5.2 weeks (26 days) or 6.2 weeks (31 days)
Individual leave entitlement is calculated on the length of continuous service.
Employees with less than 5 years’ service will receive 26 days annual leave.
Employees with more than 5 years’ service will receive 31 days annual leave.
For example:

Calculation for employees with less than 5 years’ service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 26 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 46.8 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

Calculation for employees with more than 5 years’ service:
40 weeks (term time plus 2) + 31 days (annual leave) + 8 days (public holidays) = 47.8 weeks’ pay, to be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments

This post is not open to job share.
