Further Information
Polam Hall School wishes to appoint an enthusiastic full time Teacher of Food Technology and Nutrition to commence in September 2021 (subject to vetting checks).
The role:
We seek a skilled teacher of Food Technology and Nutrition who is passionate about the subject and has high expectations of all students. You will be the only teacher of Food in our school, so will have considerable autonomy, within the supportive framework of the Practical and Performance Faculty. The role would equally suit a newly/recently qualified teacher or someone with more experience. We would be very happy to discuss the role and show you our school so please do get in touch if you are considering applying.
The successful candidate will teach Food Preparation and Nutrition to GCSE as well as Food Technology at KS3. Food is a popular option at GCSE, with good numbers opting for the subject each year. We currently offer the AQA Food Preparation and Nutrition course and outcomes at GCSE are excellent. The ability to teach OCR Level 2 Health and Social Care would be an advantage for applicants. We are also looking for a colleague who can make a contribution to the wider life of our school, through extra-curricular clubs, trips and visits.
Applications are welcomed from excellent classroom practitioners who passionately believe that every student can be successful and have a keen interest in developing evidence-informed pedagogical and curricular practice. Our Practical and Performance Faculty are a vibrant, ambitious and collaborative team who support each other well. Polam Hall is an outward looking school, with strong relationships with other schools within our Trust, as well as locally and nationally. We offer a comprehensive CPD programme for all staff, enhanced by a Trust-wide staff development programme. As we are an all-through school the role also provides the opportunity to work closely with our Primary staff to deliver excellent progression.
Our School:
Polam Hall School is a 4 – 16 all-through academy and is part of Woodard Academies Trust. We have 750 pupils on roll, with two forms of entry in our Primary Phase and three forms in our Secondary Phase. Polam Hall is a school with a unique and long history which today is proud to be a fully comprehensive school serving the young people of Darlington. Our mission is to educate the whole child, developing leadership, compassion, character and academic ambition, through the combination of our Academic and Concordia Crescimus curricula. We have high expectations and aspirations for every member of our school community.
Polam Hall is a community where staff and students work together for common goals. We make every effort to develop our staff team, offering professional development opportunities and the chance to be part of a wider Trust, yet retaining the friendly atmosphere of a small school. We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic people to join our team, who have children at the heart of their practice and who will help us to drive forward our aim: to deliver an outstanding education to every single one of our pupils.
Visits to the school are welcome – either virtually or actually, even in these strange times. If you would like to visit or to discuss the post further please contact Craig Wilkinson, Head of Faculty: wilkinson.c@phs.woodard.co.uk
Please note you should use the supporting statement section of the application form to clearly evidence your ability to meet the requirements outlined in the person specification. The information in this section will be used to shortlist applicants for the role and therefore it is important that you provide enough detail to give a full picture of your skills and experience and what you can contribute to teaching and learning at Polam Hall.
NQT: Applications welcomed
