Fixed Term position for one year
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced housing professional with a passion for supporting and assisting homeless households.
The Duty to Refer Officer will work within the Council’s Housing Options Team to action referrals received under ‘Duty to Refer’ from other Public Sector Organisations such as the Prison Service.
The focus of the role is to manage all referrals and support homeless households to ensure they have suitable accommodation when they leave the referring organisation. This will involve assessing their short-term and long-term accommodation needs as well as ensuring access to all necessary support providers and networks.
The successful applicant will need to create and maintain partnerships with referring organisations and understand their drivers and requirements, as well as outlining what the Council requires in order to best assess and support each referral. They will also work with clients to garner information on their circumstances, often doing to in external locations such as prisons.
The post will also be key in delivering the Council’s Homeless Prevention Strategy.
Applicants will have:
Applicants should have experience of working with homeless applicants or a support related service, have a good understanding of the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 and have experience, and a passion for supporting vulnerable people to enable them to enhance their lives within independent living.
You will also be required to have experience of creating partnerships with providers of temporary accommodation and a good track record of providing and delivering effective solutions for housing, vulnerable people and homeless people.
