Middlesbrough Council is an ambitious Council with ambitious plans.

With a large estate of properties within the borough, recent acquisitions and a developing portfolio the Council is looking for a lawyer who has a desire to expand their skills and knowledge with appropriate support and supervision. It may be that you are newly qualified or experienced in commercial property matters, we are open minded in our desire to recruit, our aim is to recruit the right person with passion and a can do attitude.

Middlesbrough Council has recently been successful in a number of funding bids to drive investment forward and create a diverse range of opportunities for business and people.

Ideally we are looking for a suitably qualified lawyer who will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

i. Commercial property matters;
ii. Landlord and tenant matters;
iii. Acquisition and disposal of land.

If you have experience in one of these areas but not all three, we will provide support to enhance skills in and knowledge across the range of areas.

Legal Services at Middlesbrough Council reflects the core values with our business partners and in addition to being a great place to work, we offer the successful candidate the opportunity of a flexi-scheme as we want to create a good work life balance for all our staff. Furthermore, whilst we are currently working from home, we value the opportunity this has brought to staff and as such the Council has an agile working policy which adds to that work life balance.

As well as a generous leave entitlement, employees of Middlesbrough Council also benefit from an excellent pension scheme, (find out about our full range of benefits here).

If you like the sound of the role and would like to know more about this fantastic opportunity please contact Andrew Perriman, Head of Legal Services (Places) on 01642 729776 or email andrew_perriman@middlesbrough.gov.uk.

Closing date: Friday 7th May 2021 by 12 midnight.
