We are seeking to recruit a EHORB registered Environmental Health Officer preferably with experience of working in areas of Food and or Health and Safety to join a growing team in Sunderland.

Ideally you will have experience of undertaking food hygiene inspections and enforcement activity, however we will consider EHOs with other areas of specialist experience.

The role will suit an experienced officer however applications are also encouraged from trainee or graduate candidates. Sunderland City Council is keen to support talented, aspiring graduates with the right skill set to embark in a career in Environmental Health. Support to achieve fully qualified and professional status will be provided as part of a career progression scheme.

The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills and be confident dealing with members of the public, carrying out investigations and drafting reports. Experience of undertaking Environmental Permitting inspections, noise assessments, planning consultations and enforcement activity would be desirable, however we will consider applicants with other areas of specialist experience.

Membership of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board is required for the Senior role and a Post Graduate Diploma or equivalent in Acoustics is also desirable.

This post is exempt from the rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service
